Welcome to Kaufman!

Kaufman has often been described as having a comfortable small town atmosphere with access to big city conveniences. We are located 37 miles southeast of downtown Dallas so fine dining, museums, concerts and professional sporting events are within easy reach. Within the city we have many locally owned retail shops and restaurants, some of which are located on the historic town square, which surrounds the courthouse. Additionally, there are several golf courses within easy driving distance of Kaufman as well as lakes to boat and fish on. Our community offers many volunteer activities and organizations where you can get involved and meet people.

If festivals entice you there is a plethora to choose from in Kaufman County as well as the surrounding areas. Kaufman hosts an annual Scarecrow Festival and parade in October and a Fourth of July Picnic in the Park. Neighboring towns hold the Heritage Jubilee in April, the Cotton Festival in September and the Polka Festival in May in addition to many more.

Our local parks offer not only playgrounds for the children, but sporting fields, lakes and walking trails. In the spring the Texas bluebonnets and other wildflowers are abundant and beautiful.

Texas Health Kaufman’s hospital is state of the art and has an amazing medical team, closely linked with Texas Health Resources in Dallas. Their team of doctors and medical staff makes it convenient to stay local for your care. And, if it’s necessary to go to Dallas, or another location, Kaufman County has a superb bus system that can help make that trip easily.

Kaufman is often referred to as having the perfect blend of progress and tradition, as well as having a small town atmosphere with big city conveniences. It is an ideal town to retire in. For more information on visiting or moving to Kaufman look us up at www.kaufmanchamber.com.
