The Mineola Nature Preserve on the Sabine River is the 3000-acre home of 139 species of birds and two resident alligators. Visitors at the Preserve find four miles of walking trails, wildlife observation platforms, a working beehive, covered picnic pavilion, playground, and a fishing pond. The Preserve is open from 7:00 am until sunset seven days a week. The Equestrian/Mountain Bike Trail offers 25 miles of equestrian trails and five miles of bike trails.
A jewel in the downtown district is the Select Theater/ Lake Country Playhouse. It is the oldest, continuously operating movie theater in Texas. The theater shows first run movies on weekends, produces four live productions and three annual Orchestra concerts.
The Mineola League of the Arts is dedicated to providing opportunities that make art accessible to the entire area. Mineola League of the Arts holds functions through individual groups or "guilds" to study specific art forms. Current guilds include painters, quilters, fiber crafts and line dancing.
Mineola Civic Center has 224 RV pads, tennis courts, playground and meeting facilities.
